These are two of my new makes, cross stitch heart pin badges, and recycled doily necklaces, and I must say, I am rather proud of them :)Both will be added to my Folksy shop this evening.

Me and Steve were up at 6am today (6am, on a Sunday, in January!). It was all for a good cause though, we headed north to Nottingham as Steve was taking some photographs of our friends band Yunioshi. The shoot was in a cafe called The Walk on Bridlesmith Walk in the city centre. I didn't even know that this amazing place even existed until today! The cafe is full of weird and wonderful curiosities, sells beautiful and yummy cakes, and tea is served in vintage teapots with vintage cups and saucers. It's wonderful. It's the kind of place that I could imagine myself owning one day.
In other news, there are some new items in my Folksy shop, and all of the letter tile badges are currently 2 for 1 until next Saturday (I thought that this would be the ideal offer with Valentines Day approaching, one for you, and one for your loved one :) ) I have also been busy with some more new product ideas, which I will hopefully find the time to photograph and post about very soon! But until then, here's a preview of my new necklaces, one of which I have kept for myself and wore today!Hope that you've all had a splendid weekend, I'm so not ready for Monday...

A bit like Howard Moon from The Might Boosh, every single item of clothing I adore at the moment is practically the same!
Today I discovered Polyvore, and oh my is that website addictive! I managed to find all of these beautiful Topshop wonders on there that I have had my eye on for a while, so here is my first attempt :)
I must add, I would never dream of buying all of this (partly because my purse just couldn't manage it!), but also because it's all too new! This is my inspiration for when I'm trawling the charity shops and vintage fairs over the next couple of months!
PS Tonight I listed the hello, bonjour and hola necklaces on Folksy :)

Look at this incredibly cute faux fox scarf I found on Folksy! It is made by Fresh Made, who also make a deer and bunny version, along with some other handmade bits and pieces :) If you're feeling crafty, you can also buy the PDF file to make the fox scarf yourself! Custom orders are also considered, so if you have a favourite animal that you'd like draped around your neck (minus the slaughtering!!), then get your skates on and contact them. You can find their Folksy shop here :)

I have been meaning to feature the wonderful Emily's handmade loveliness for quite some time now, and tonight I was reminded whilst looking through Folksy, and behold, there appeared this super cute keyboard cushion, made by Emily!
Emily appears to have the same love of all things vintage and nostalgic, like myself, and I love her little mice and colourful owls, which remind me of retro craft books, school fetes and going to my Nans's house :)
Emily's Folksy shop (handmade by Emily) is full of lots of splendid handmade treats, which she updates regularly so keep popping back! She also writes a wonderful blog, which you can find here!
In other news, I have been so busy. January seems to be whizzing by so quickly! I am awaiting conformation for four fairs, which are happening in February and March, so every spare moment has been spent making new stock! I am going to try and get some photographs of my new makes tomorrow, so keep your eyes peeled :)
Hope that you all have a great weekend!

I started this project quite a few weeks ago, and have been adding to it in stages (I have a very short attention span!) The pattern is from one of my many 1970s craft books, those books are in my opinion so much better than modern ones!
I have two beautiful twin nieces, who will be two years old on Saturday, and these rag dolls will be one of their birthday presents :)

Steve took a lot of really beautiful photographs over the festive period, so I wanted to share a selection with you all! He really is a talented thing. I studied Photography at As level, and how I got an A, I will never know! My problem is that I have a creative eye, but usually lack the skills required to see an idea through.
Anyway, I hope that you enjoy these favourites of mine, you can see more of Steve's work on his flikr, or on his website. Oh, and he has one of those Twitter thingy-magigs :)

Fabric arrived on Thursday.
Pattern pieces cut out on Friday.
Pattern pieces cut out on Friday.
Sewing began today.
I ventured upstairs to my sewing machine about three hours ago, thinking that this dress making process would take, hmm, an hour? OPTIMISTIC MUCH?! I have not yet finished the dress, I need to hem the bottom and make some alterations to the bodice section as it is too large, but all in all, no huge disasters! This is shaping up quite well for my fist ever garment :)
P.S. I'm very aware of how tired I look in this photograph, sewing is intense!

I saw this idea this evening on Carla's blog (messy carla), and thought it sounded really very exciting indeed! So here is what it is all about...
"I promise to make something handmade for the first five people who comment.
They must in turn post this and make something for the first five who comment on their status.
The rules are it has to be handmade by you, and they must receive it before 2011 ends."
Carla has been very brave, and has changed her challenge so that she sends TEN handmade things. I think I will stick to five for the time being :) I do however think that by the end of 2011 is quite a long time, so I am going to get my handmade lovelies out to my five people by my birthday (11th March). That's two months away, and it is a date that I will definitely remember!
So, if this sounds like something that you'd like to be a part of:
- Be one of the first five to comment.
- Please leave your email address so I can contact you directly.
- Be sure to repost this to your own blog if you do comment, as that's the whole point of Pay It Forward afterall! :)

I brought this beautiful bracelet on Tuesday in good ol' trusty Oxfam (same place I found this gem of a leopard print coat!). I don't usually wear bracelets or watches, I find wearing anything on my wrists sort of irritating, but I just fell in love with this quirky exception. Four lockets to some day place four lovely photographs :)
I also picked up this retro wooden puzzle. I'm a little bit obsessed with anything circus themed at the moment, this will most likely be inspiring my new Kakes Makes collection :)
In other news, my plan to make a dress had begun! I brought this utterly amazing from ebay (it arrived today!), and have already cut out all of my pattern pieces. I am sort of trying to combine two patterns together and have made some alterations to the hems, I have real trouble with just simply following instructions! So, fingers crossed that it will be a huge success! I might attempt the sewing tomorrow evening...
