Look, Miss Fremont, that feminine intuition stuff sells magazines, but in real life it's still a fairy tale. I don't know how many times I chased down leads based on women's intuition.

Saturday

In preparation for the vintage fair on Sunday, I spent most of Saturday at home making, making and making some more.  My sewing machine is doing very bizarre things at the moment, which is very irritating.  It took me about four times as long to make everything that I wanted to.  Mid afternoon, I was channel hopping, and came across Hitchcocks' Rear Window.  I absolutely love this film.  My attention span when watching anything is usually pretty short, but this is one of those films that just compels me.  If you have never watched it, I urge you to!  In terms of cinematography, it is beautiful.  I also stars the wonderful Grace Kelly, who is as glamorous as ever and depicts the 1950s American woman perfectly (and does so in the most amazing wardrobe!)  I am also quite obsessed with the location of the film, the apartments with cute little balconies and perfectly moved lawns with carefully tended flowers out the front.  I have been daydreaming of living there for the past few days *sigh*.

Here is a little peek at some of my new cross stitch badge designs.  You may have already seen my hearts (which went down very well at the vintage fair), but I have also stared to make some anchor ones. I have loved all things nautical for quite a number of years, and I think these have turned out really well.

Sunday

At 9:30am, off we went to the vintage fair at DMU's Student Union, on possibly the gloomiest day of the year so far :(  I think the cold and the rain probably put a few people off venturing out  because it seemed a bit quiet - particularly towards the end of the fair.  I still managed to do well though, and there may also be a prospect of a regular spot at an event and teaming up with someone who sells vintage clothes, so that is very exciting!  I will keep you all posted!  Here's a few snaps of my stall - the lighting was TERRIBLE but Steve still managed to do a good job :)

All I seemed to read about over the weekend, was people saying how much they disliked Valentine's Day and didn't celebrate it.  Now, I would not say I love Valentine's Day myself, but I just think, why not?  So far, me and Steve have only spent two of our four Valentines' together (one year I was in Berlin, and another, he was in L.A) and we never really make a big deal out of it.  We will always make each other a card - mine are usually traditional folded card, and Steve's are more abstract - this year I got a flicker book!  I was also taken out to the Phoenix - Leicester's art cinema, for a meal and then to see a film.  Steve did well, and chose me a vegetable Thai green curry YUM, and then brought me some honey and ginger ice cream and we watched Never Let Me Go, a beautiful film, but one which certainly tugged on my heart strings, and I left feeling ever so slightly depressed!  It was all ok though, we brought some chocolate digestives on the way home, made some tea and dunked away :)  Oh, and I did get a little gift from Steve, luckily no tacky teddy bears, balloons or boxes of chocolates, but a very pretty ring.  I saw it in a little gift shop a few weeks ago and loved it, but being poor and trying to save a bit better, I resisted.  What a star he is :)
