Kakes Makes

As some of you may already know, in April I began my own craft venture - Kakes Makes. A large percentage of the materials I use are recycled or vintage. Here are a few photographs of what I have been up to over the past few months!

I have always loved Ladybird books, I had lots of them when I was growing up and I now collect them. The books with Peter and Jane are my favourites, so I decided to make these 'Shopping With Mother' pin badges.

I now have rather a large collection of plates and sherry glasses in boxes, just waiting to become a cake stand!

Working in a school has some advantages! I often use the workshops and created these wooden cassette tape brooches using a design program (Techsoft 2D) and the laser cutter. The technician, Mick, is a lovely guy and has helped me out on multiple occasions - technology really isn't my strong point!

I love hair bows, except I do often think that they make me look about 12 years old! I have made lots and lots of bows so far, in various fabrics and sizes.

I first made myself a polaroid camera brooch from felt a few years ago. I am really pleased with these designs, but don't end up getting many made as they take a while to produce and I have a very short attention span! I am hoping to make some more retro camera brooches soon though.

I brought this red 1950s vanity case at a car boot sale about a month ago for £4.00. It's in really good condition, and it's perfect for displaying my recycled tie purses in when I hold stalls at fairs!

If you would like to see some more of my creations, you can find me on facebook or folksy.
